Guilford Fourth Of July Celebration

Guilford will celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade and a town wide picnic at the Broad Brook Grange. The parade will form at the Guilford Central School at 3:45 P.M. and steps off for a march up through Guilford Center at 4:00 P.M. Anyone may march and walkers, bicyclists, old cars, etc. are invited to participate in it. Pat Good will be the Parade Marshal. Come liven it up and march!!

Following the parade, the public will gather at the Grange to hear about Algiers and the Country Store and its future, to sing patriotic songs, to devour food sold by the Youth of the Guilford Community Church and the Library volunteers, and to shoot the breeze with fellow Guilfordites. Games for children led by Heidi Humphrey and her husband, Ben Benedict, will be conducted following the ceremony.

The event is coordinated by the Guilford Historical Society and the Grange. 2009 marks the sixteenth year of the celebration. The Historical Society Museum in the 1822 Town House and the 1837 Guilford Center Meeting House will be open for visitors. More information may be obtained by calling Mary Sargent at 257-0004 or Fred Humphrey at 257-7306
